John & Margaret have had a busy Winter/Spring season showing their artwork at
numerous Florida art festivals, participating in plein air events and producing new
works in the studio.

In January and early February, the couple participated in the “Images” Fine Art
Festival in New Smyrna Beach, FL, and the Mt. Dora Arts Festival in the
picturesque town of Mt. Dora, FL. Despite chilly temps, both shows were very well
attended.

The prestigious, Gasparilla Arts Festival took place in early March. Held in Tampa,
FL in the Curtis Hixon waterfront park adjacent to the new Tampa Art Museum, the
festival boasted record crowds out enjoying the wonderful array of artwork and the
warm, sunny weekend.

Springfest, sponsored by the Anna Maria Island Art League and located on
beautiful Anna Maria Island, FL. is always an enjoyable show for the couple.
Margaret’s tee shirt design previously used for Winterfest was featured again for
this event and was so popular it sold out. John received an Award of Merit for his
display. All in all it was an exciting weekend for the two.

Two plein air competitions in March were both fun and challenging. The first,
“Paint Out in Paradise” Fifth Invitational, was held in beautiful Venice, FL. Both
artists enjoyed capturing the beautiful scenery despite coping with below average
temperatures, and both agree that Caspersen Beach is one of the most wonderful
stretches of natural coastline along Florida’s Gulf of Mexico.

The second plein air event “Open Air Arts” fourth annual Spring art event was
located in the charming town of Melrose, FL. Sponsored through the Alachua
Florida Conservation

Trust, this is an exciting event offering an array of vistas for any artist. John was
awarded a 1st Place Watercolor Award for his painting entitled, “Morning Light.”
John & Margaret thoroughly enjoyed painting on location in this delightful
environment as well as re-connecting with artist friends made the previous year.

hometown of St. Petersburg, FL on April 17 & 18th. Held in Vinoy Park along the
scenic Tampa Bay waterfront, it is one of the couples favorite Florida festivals.
