Noted for her rich palette and painterly style, Margaret Bayalis has garnered awards & recognition since beginning her artistic endeavors. A native of New Jersey, Ms. Bayalis graduated from Montclair State University in Upper Montclair, NJ. Relocating to Delaware in 1973, she continued her education at the University of DE studying graphic design. Margaret worked professionally as director of publications at Wesley College in Dover, DE, heading up their graphic design department. Ms. Bayalis’ artistic skills were also employed as a courtroom artist and a free-lance illustrator. Margaret brings this experience into her paintings with a sharp eye for composition, color and strong contrast.
Margaret currently works between studios in Milford, DE & St. Petersburg, FL. In addition to her studio work, the artist keeps an active schedule participating in juried art festivals, gallery exhibitions, teaching workshops and national juried competitions. Her oil paintings have been selected to be included in numerous juried shows, including, the Florida Museum for Women Artists in Deland, FL, the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington, DE and the Rehoboth Art League in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Bayalis has also received awards for her work at juried festivals at Springfest in Holmes Beach, FL, “Beauty on the Beach,” in Indian Rocks Beach, FL. “Art on the Oval” in Livingston, NJ and “Artfest” in Bonita Springs, FL. In addition, Ms. Bayalis has also participated in many “plein air” competitions where her work has been recognized, including “Paint the Cape” in Cape Coral, FL, “Open Air Arts” in Melrose, FL, the Adirondack Plein Air Festival in Saranac Lake, NY and CCA annual plein air event in Chincoteague, VA.
Margaret’s work has been featured in numerous periodicals gracing the covers of“Maggie Mae” magazine, circulated throughout central FL. One of the artist’s paintings was also selected by theAnna Maria Island Art League to promote their annual art festivals. Eager to share her working methods, Bayalis’ workshops are well- attended with many new & returning students.
